The Civil Service Commission is a 3-member board appointed by the Yeadon Borough Council to oversee the Yeadon Police Department (YPD) and maintain a professional and accountable police force on behalf of the community. The Commission presides over the examination and hiring process for each and every applicant to Yeadon’s police force. Additionally, the Commission has the power to launch investigations concerning all matters relating to the administration and enforcement of Civil Service rules and regulations. Upon request, the Commission adjudicates appeals made by YPD officers concerning suspensions, removals and reductions in rank.
